Process

Pre-Restorative Dialogue

1. Wrongdoing occurs.

2. Referral is submitted. Anyone can refer and be referred to restorative dialogue.

3. Offender & Victim eligibility is determined by facilitator(s).

4. The facilitator meets both the Offender and Victim separately. Offender and Victim needs and goals are established, the next steps are reviewed.

5. The Restorative Dialogue model is determined:

  • Peacemaking Circles

  • Healing Circles

  • Sentencing Circles

  • Restorative Conferencing Circles

  • Victim Offender Mediation

  • Family Group Conferencing

  • Community Justice Forum

  • Youth Justice Committees

Restorative Dialogue

1. The Facilitative Dialogue begins with the Offender, Victim, Facilitator, and others affected by the incident.

2. Throughout the dialogue, the established Offender and Victim needs are covered and met to the best of everyone’s abilities.

3. Restitution from the Offender is completed, costs of damages are covered as needed, or scheduling for community volunteering is completed.

Post-Restorative Dialogue

1. Follow-up is completed for additional requirements if necessary. The Facilitator will arrange to complete them with the Offender and Victim.

2. Surveys and evaluations are sent to both the Offender and Victim, they cover various stages of the process including intake, preparation, dialogue, and post-dialogue.
