Q: How do I purchase a membership?

Contact us at involved@yoursynergy.ca or 403-207-7048

Q: What is Synergy’s definition of a Family?

A basic social unit consisting of one (or more adults) together with the children they care for, whether they dwell within one household or not. Still unsure? Give us a call and we can discuss this together.

Q: Is a membership required to take part in programming?

A membership is only required for YELL & SHOUT members (While we encourage a membership, we understand that in some instances your youth/child may only be attending one event or program and will not be an active member, in which case a membership isn’t necessary)
SYNERGY is a Not-for-Profit Society that is funded primarily through grants, donations and memberships. We have four staff members and a handful of dedicated and remarkable volunteers who collectively carry our current workload. To uphold operations we need more hands on deck. We are functioning well beyond our capacity and we are called upon daily to do more. Without additional volunteer support we will have to reduce the number of projects, programs and events we offer.

Q: Why are we required to complete 5 adult hours volunteering with Synergy?

We ask that each family contributes a minimum of 5 ADULT volunteer hours per year to SYNERGY. These hours will be tracked on the honour system but we want you to know that, should every family contribute at least the minimum, it will make a critical difference to our ability to maintain what we are already doing. Of course you are more than welcome to contribute more time, talent and/or treasure should you be in a position to do so and wish to help us to further enhance our services.

Please note the 5 require Synergy Volunteer hours cannot be redeemed for Synergy Points. Any additional adult volunteer hours worked with Synergy can be redeemed for Synergy Points.

Q: How can I volunteer with Synergy?

Choose one or more of the following or talk to us about other opportunities:
  • Mentor an individual youth member
  • Assist with a SHOUT, YELL or Creative Kids meeting, project or program (preferably one that your own child does not attend – ask us why)
  • Host or assist with a community program – i.e. Games Night
  • Lead or assist with an initiative or event – i.e. Langdon Legacies
  • Chaperone a field trip, retreat or camp
  • Help with a fundraiser
  • Sit on a committee – i.e. Fundraising, Marketing, Policy Development
  • Teach a skill, share a talent or be a guest speaker
  • Provide IT or Administrative support – i.e. website, record keeping
  • Pitch us an idea! We are always up for considering something outside of the box!
The Synergy Points Program is an opportunity for Synergy Members to receive a discount on Synergy programming by volunteering in the community. Many parents/guardians volunteer their time on parent council meetings, coaching a team or sitting on a board and the Synergy Points Program is a great way to be recognized for giving back to the community. One hour of local adult volunteer time is equal to one point, and one point is equal to $10 worth of Synergy programming fees.

Q: How do I earn Synergy Points?

Synergy Points can be earned by parents or guardians who volunteer locally (in Chestermere, Langdon and South East Rocky View). One hour of local volunteering, verified by an authorized signature, is equal to one Synergy Point. Each Point is equal to $10.00 of program fees. Volunteer hours can be tracked on a Synergy Points Tracker.

Q: How do I redeem Synergy Points?

If you would like to use local community volunteer hours towards program fees, complete and submit a Synergy Points Tracker. Let Synergy staff know that you would like to redeem points for a particular program or event. The maximum discount you can receive using Synergy Points is 25% of the program fee.

For example: The fee for a Shout event is $80.00. With your Synergy Membership you will receive a 25% discount, lowering the cost of the program to $60.00. If you redeem 2 Synergy Points towards the program the cost will be lowered by an additional 25% to $40.00.

Please note that partial points cannot be redeemed.

For example: The fee for the Superhero Retreat is $100.00. With the membership discount of 25%, the fee is lowered to $75.00. To receive the additional 25% discount with Synergy Points you would need to redeem 3 Points.

Q: Is financial assistance available?

Contact Chestermere Community Services at 403-207-7079 to discuss financial assistance options.
